OHIO, (WOWO) — A new Ohio law takes effect September 30, allowing vets to use telemedicine to treat pet patients.

Vets can now prescribe non-controlled meds remotely, with a 14-day limit and one refill after a follow-up video visit.

Controlled substances are still off-limits via telehealth.

The change means fewer in-person visits for pets, but livestock used for food are excluded.
