Pavement replacement to close U.S. 224 in Decatur

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A pavement replacement project will be closing a portion of U.S. 224 in Decatur. Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation say that Monday, Dec. 12, U.S. 224 is scheduled to close, from the St. Mary’s River Bridge to just east of Jackson Street, weather permitting.

The closure is for INDOT contractors to begin the U.S. 224 pavement replacement project, which will elevate the roadway above the 50-year flood level. According to INDOT, the project will include new pavement, curbs, storm sewers, lighting and traffic control devices.

During the closure, the official state detour will be U.S. 27 to U.S. 33 to S.R. 101. Local detours will also be available. INDOT contractors will maintain access to all homes and businesses along U.S. 224, up to the site of the closure.
