Pence Officials Win Clearance From ethics panel

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The Indiana State Ethics Commission has cleared a pair of Pence administration officials to take new jobs at Purdue University and an Indianapolis law firm.

The panel voted unanimously Thursday morning in favor of Pence policy director Marilee Springer’s return to Ice Miller and transportation commissioner Michael Cline’s departure to Purdue. Springer and Cline testified they kept their distance from issues they would oversee in their new jobs while working for the state.

The commission also found that Department of Child Services Director Mary Beth Bonaventura faced no conflict from her sister-in-law’s work running a company licensed by DCS. But the panel approved a “screen” at Bonaventura’s request that would keep her from any involvement with the company.
