Pence Surveys Flood Damage at 2 Northern Indiana Farms

RENSSELAER, Ind. (AP) _ Gov. Mike Pence has surveyed damaged crops in northern Indiana.

Pence met Wednesday with farmers in Jasper County and planned to meet with farmers in Cass County. He was joined by U.S. Rep Todd Rokita and Indiana Farm Bureau President Don Villwock.

The State Climate Office says 18.06 inches of rain was measured in Jasper County last month.

Pence is asking farmers to submit damage reports to their county Farm Service Agency offices as soon as possible to help measure the damage to this year's crops. He says low-interest emergency loans are available to all producers in counties where 30 percent or more of a single crop has been damaged. Failed crop areas of greater than 20 acres are eligible for federal crop insurance claims.
