INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Gov. Mike Pence wants his top ethics officer to thoroughly investigate the purchase of land owned by an Indiana transportation official to ensure it didn’t violate state law.
 
  The Indiana Department of Transportation purchased nearly three acres owned by INDOT Chief of Staff Troy Woodruff as part of land acquisitions for the expansion of Interstate 69.
 
  An Indianapolis Star investigation found Woodruff failed to inform the state that he had sold the land to INDOT and found six land deals that netted $1.8 million for Woodruff’s uncle and cousins.
 
  Woodruff denies any wrongdoing and says a 2010 report by the inspector general cleared him.
 
  Inspector General David Thomas says he will conduct a second investigation and refer findings to an outside prosecutor for review.
