Peru Surgeon Gets 10 Years for Stalking

PERU, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana orthopedic surgeon has been given a 10-year sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of stalking.

WLFI reports a Miami County judge on Tuesday sentenced 48-year-old Gregory Konrath of Peru to one year in prison, one year in community corrections and eight years on probation.

Konrath was arrested in July for allegedly plotting to kill his ex-wife. Court documents state Konrath told his girlfriend at the time about his plan and she notified police. Konrath denied the allegation.

An attempted murder charge was dropped last month in a plea agreement. Miami County Prosecutor Bruce Embrey says the charge was dropped because the Indiana Court of Appeals has ruled that preparing and plotting to commit a murder isn't enough to support the charge.
