Planned Parenthood of Indiana Reviewing Abortion Bill

INDIANA (WOWO): Planned Parenthood of Indiana is reviewing its legal options after Governor Mike Pence signs a bill for tighter abortion pill rules.

The bill signed into law by Governor Pence creates more regulations on the distribution of the abortion pill and it requires clinics that provide only drug-induced abortions to meet the same standards as clinics that perform surgical abortions.

Pence says the new law will ensure that the pill is given under proper medical care, however, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana says, “Working with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Indiana, we are currently reviewing the constitutionality of this harmful new law,” says Betty Cockrum.  “It is very likely that we will be challenging SEA 371 in court.

She believes the new law intrudes on women’s personal health care decisions.
