E-Mail SCAM Alert

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind (WOWO): The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and area law enforcement want to warn you of a recent scam.

People have been receiving emails that have false information stating that their credit cards have been suspended.  The message then states that activating cards is “quick and easy” and that they have been “suspended for your protection”.

The email then requests the user to complete a downloaded form that is attached to the original message and provide personal information including social security number, mother’s maiden name, credit card number and PIN number, see diagram below.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Detectives say that the most recent information was provided by individuals who don’t even own a credit card and they immediately knew that it was a scam.
