Plymouth Pair Charged in Michigan Fentanyl Death

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. — A months-long, multi-agency investigation into the fentanyl overdose death of a White Pigeon, Michigan man has led to Level 1 felony charges for two Plymouth residents.

On October 2, Ernest Westerhoff, 35, and Alyssa Kring, 32, were formally charged with Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death. The case stems from an April overdose where the victim was found dead in his vehicle in Michigan. An autopsy confirmed fentanyl was a contributing factor.

Detectives from the Indiana State Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, and Plymouth Police worked together to trace the fentanyl back to Westerhoff and Kring.

Both suspects are already in the Marshall County Jail on unrelated charges. Following their initial court appearances today, bond was set at $100,000 cash each.
