Police Foil Armed Robbery in NE Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police arrive just as a robbery suspect is leaving the store he just held up.

Police were called to an armed robbery at Phil's One Stop on St. Joe Center Road on the northeast side at about 8:30 Tuesday morning.

The suspect, who police identify as Myles Townsend, reportedly pointed a loaded gun at the cashier and demanded money from the register along with several cartons of Newports.

Townsend reportedly had to be forcibly restrained after allegedly refusing officer commands. The report says he kept reaching for his right pocket, which contained a stolen handgun.
