Police: Gunman wounded after firing at Indianapolis officers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indianapolis police say an officer shot and wounded a man who fired at officers responding to a reported home invasion.

Police say the man was wounded in the leg and taken to a hospital in good condition following the shooting about 2 a.m. Saturday in a neighborhood on the city's near north side. No officers were injured.

Sergeant Kendale Adams says neighbors called police after seeing men climbing into windows of the house. Adams says at least two men attacked two people inside the house who were taken to a hospital in good condition.

Adams says the attackers fled the house as officers arrived, which is when the gunman fired several shots. Officers arrested another man who fled a short time later.
