Gator Found Along C. Ind. Highway Unlikely a Pet

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP): A reptile handler says he doesn't believe the 3-foot-long alligator found walking along Interstate 69 in suburban Indianapolis is an escaped pet. Ron Billingsley operates Indiana Reptile Expo near Noblesville, and he says an alligator raised as a pet would be calm around people, but the one spotted by a driver Friday night in Fishers lunges and hisses. Billingsley says that he suspects someone caught the gator in Florida and brought it back to Indiana, where it escaped or was turned loose. He says the alligator is about three years old and is being shipped to a reptile reserve in Alabama.
