Police: Man Gets Attacked with Hammer While Sleeping

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Police say a 28-year-old Muncie man attacked another man with a hammer while he was sleeping.

The Star Press (http://tspne.ws/1HNMjJL ) reports the 28-year-old was arrested Sunday on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, intimidation and strangulation.

Authorities say the victim told police that the man beat him with a hammer and woke him up about 6 a.m. Sunday. The other man also said he was choked while the arrested man told him repeatedly that he was going to kill him.

Police say the 28-year-old called 911 a short time later and asked to talk to officers, saying he was the victim of an attack by the other man.

Officers said the victim had a bloody and swollen nose.

The 28-year-old was released on pre-trial probation Tuesday.
