SEYMOUR, Ind. (AP) _ Police say a mother and daughter accused of stealing mail took it directly from mailboxes in as many as 25 Indiana counties.

WTHR-TV reports police say they found several bags of mail when they arrested the two women in a Seymour motel. Jackson County Sheriff Michael Carothers says the pair was targeting families to get IDs and credit cards.

According to police, the two women were making purchases using stolen credit cards and tried to get into people's bank accounts. Carothers says his brother's mail was found among the stolen items.

Records say the two women have not made an initial court appearance.
