ANDERSON, Ind. (AP): Central Indiana prosecutors have decided to re-try a woman whose murder conviction in a 2006 killing was reversed on appeal last month.
Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings said Sunday he'll press ahead with re-trying Anissa Tyler in the April 2006 killing of 62-year-old Charles Robinette, who was found dead from blunt-force trauma to the head in his Anderson apartment.
Cummings tells The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/Vc2kFK ) the evidence in the case is “strong and persuasive.''
The 42-year-old Tyler was sentenced to 60 years in prison and convicted of murder and armed robbery in that case.
She lost her initial appeal in 2008, but the Indiana Court of Appeals reviewed the case again this year and on July 1 the court reversed her conviction, concluding that Tyler had received ineffective defense counsel.
