Protesters clash with Gov. Pence during Fort Wayne visit

(Saige Driver/ WOWO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Governor Mike Pence didn’t get the warmest welcome to Fort Wayne last night.

Pence was in town for the Allen County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner, but on the way to the dinner he encountered dozens of protesters near Hotel Fort Wayne.

Our partners in news at 21Alive report they were upset over Pence’s recent approval of a law that bans abortions based on a fetus’ gender, race or disabilities.

They held signs saying “Pence Must Go!” and “Fire Mike Pence.”

Pence didn’t seem bothered by the protesters, however, telling reporters “that’s what freedom looks like.”
