Purdue Receives $40 Million Grant from Lilly Endowment

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Purdue University has received the largest cash donation in its history courtesy of a $40 million grant from the Lilly Endowment.

The Indianapolis endowment announced Wednesday that it was providing the money to support five projects in Purdue's Colleges of Engineering and Technology and the university's libraries. They include efforts to provide engineering and technology students with computer-aided design studios, creating new labs or expanding existing ones and establishing an Active Learning Center that will include classrooms, libraries and collaboration areas.

The Journal & Courier reports the projects are scheduled to be completed in 2017.

Lilly Endowment Vice President of Education Sara B. Cobb says the projects promise to be “game-changers'' and can boost Purdue's contributions in the areas of research, education and economic development.
