With $42 million in funding earmarked to the region, it’s only a matter of time before projects will start to be funded.

There’s five people responsible for distributing the Regional Cities funding, and Auburn businessman Jeff Turner tells the News Sentinel that the first grant could be considered as early as this week.

The first project to be apparently considered is the residential portion of the Ash Brokerage project. The $2.8 million dollar grant would be used to help build the residential tower. In all the project will cost a total of $40 million dollars.

However the Skyline Tower in Fort Wayne wasn’t part of original vision of the how the money would be spent. Part of the funding package includes tax credits sold to raise money for construction.

A special joint session of governmental bodies was held last week to discuss how the projects will be funded.

The state mandates the money must be used within 2 years.
