Richmond Mayor Hutton Being Treated for Cancer

RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) _ An eastern Indiana mayor says she will continue overseeing her city's operations while she battles cancer.

Three-term Richmond Mayor Sally Hutton says she is in daily contact with her staff while she receives treatment that has included radiation and chemotherapy.

Hutton said in a statement Thursday that she will undergo tests so doctors have more information on the extent of her cancer. She did not reveal what type of cancer she has.

The Palladium-Item reports Hutton has won election three times and is finishing her 11th year in the mayor's office. She is not seeking re-election.
