Indiana Beach Amusement Park Bought by California Company

MONTICELLO, Ind. (AP) _ The Indiana Beach amusement park has a new owner for just the second time in its nearly 90-year history.

California-based Apex Parks Group is taking over the park along Lake Shafer near Monticello (mahn-tuh-SEL'-oh) in northwestern Indiana. Terms of the deal with Morgan Recreation Vacations of Sarasota, New York, weren't released.

Apex Parks CEO Al Weber calls Indiana Beach a fabulous addition for the company that now owns 13 amusement parks and two water parks in California, Texas, Florida and New Jersey.

Morgan Recreation had owned Indiana Beach since buying it from the founding Spackman family in 2008. The sale includes the amusement park, its campgrounds and hotel.

Apex says Indiana Beach will continue with its regular schedule this summer, being open Labor Day weekend Sept. 12, 13 and 19.
