Roundabout Construction Causing Slowdowns

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The road construction of the first part of the roundabout at Fairfield/Ewing/Superior and Wells is nearing completion, and today crews have started the changeover from Fairfield to Ewing.

If the weather cooperates crews expect Fairfield’s construction to be completed by Tuesday.

Ewing Street will close from Superior to Main for construction of the second half of the roundabout. Ewing will remain open to two-way traffic from Main to Baker.

Here’s what drivers should be aware of next week:

·Traffic flow on the Wells Street Bridge will move to the west side of the bridge and the east side will be closed.
·Superior Street east of Ewing will be open to local businesses only, between Harrison and Ewing.
·A one-way stop will be placed on Superior, at Fairfield, for motorists heading east on Superior. These motorists will only be able to turn right/south onto Fairfield. There will be no left turn.
·Traffic heading north and south on Fairfield to/from Wells will be a continuous flow and will not stop at Superior.

Concrete construction of the roundabout is expected to be complete in late November with landscaping and restoration completed next year.
