School Accountability Grades in Trouble

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): A technicality could kill off A-to-F school accountability grades this year.

The Indiana Department of Education says the rule responsible for the grades expired in November, and now they're reaching out to the Attorney General's office for advice. The Journal Gazette reports that they got hold of a document that claims the model no longer exists and that assigning grades to schools would create legal problems.

Superintendent Glenda Ritz told a group in Indianapolis this week she wants the grading system suspended anyway, because it's unfair to students who may be judged by how their school performs instead of their individual performance.
