Semi Goes Atop Truck in Fatal Crash in NW Indiana

LOWELL, Ind. (AP) _ A semitrailer cab drove onto the top of a pickup truck in a crash on Interstate 65 in northwestern Indiana that police say killed the truck's driver.

State police say 52-year-old Jim Uildriks of the White County town of Monon was driving behind a semi that had stopped because of construction up ahead when his truck was hit from behind by another semi and forced into the trailer in front of him.

The crash happened Wednesday morning near the Indiana 2 interchange in southern Lake County, about 20 miles south of Gary. The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for nearly four hours.

Police say Uildriks was pronounced dead at the scene while both semi drivers were taken to a Crown Point hospital with complaints of pain.
