Sheriff: son suspected in deaths of NW Ind. couple

CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) – A sheriff says the son of a northwestern Indiana couple found bludgeoned and strangled is the only suspect in their deaths.

Lake County Sheriff John Buncich says 34-year-old Thomas Snow was captured Saturday afternoon in western Minnesota after Indiana authorities tracked him there through his cellphone and the use of his parents' credit card.

The Munster Times reports Joyce and Clifford Snow were found dead Friday in their home near Lowell, about 20 miles south of Gary.

Buncich said during a news conference Monday that authorities in neighboring Newton County want Thomas Snow in connection with a service station robbery Thursday. Buncich says no charges have been filed in connection with the slayings.

KFGO-AM in Fargo, N.D., reports Snow waived extradition during a court appearance Monday in Moorhead, Minn.
