Storms Packing High Winds, Hail Rake Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Severe thunderstorms across Indiana have prompted a flood warning and left thousands of customers without power.

The National Weather Service posted a flood warning for northern Carroll County in north central Indiana Wednesday afternoon after radar indicated slow-moving storms would dump up to 2{ inches of rain on that area.

High winds were downing trees and power lines across western and southwestern Indiana. Duke Energy reported more than 18,000 customers had lost power, including nearly 7,000 in the Terre Haute area.

The weather service says authorities and a trained spotter estimated wind gusts of 60 mph near Switz City, west of Bloomington, and in Whitley County, west of Fort Wayne.
