INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Supporters and opponents of the federal health care overhaul are bringing their continuing battle to Indianapolis.
 
Democratic state lawmakers spent Monday afternoon touting the benefits of the federal health care law set to take effect soon. Former Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint was scheduled to stop in Indianapolis Monday evening as part of a national tour seeking to cut funding for the law.
 
The fighting continues a trend which has seen action move from Washington to the states as the core of the law approaches. Health insurance exchanges are scheduled to open in states Oct. 1 and an individual mandate is set to take effect Jan. 1.
 
Republican Gov. Mike Pence opted to let the federal government run Indiana's exchange and has applied to expand Medicaid through a state plan.
