Tasmanian Devils Returning to Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): After an 11-year absence, Tasmanian devils will soon return to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. The zoo was selected to receive the marsupials from Australia as part of a program to save them from extinction.

You may remember that the zoo housed 12 of the endangered animals from 1987-2004; more than any other zoo in North America. One of these was the last living devil anywhere in the world outside of Australia when it died in 2004.

Officials with the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo say it's not yet known how many Tasmanian devils will come to Fort Wayne or when they are expected to arrive.
