Taylor University President to Retire

UPLAND, Ind. (WOWO): The long-time president of Taylor University is retiring.

Dr. Eugene Habecker announced he will retire at the end of the coming academic year. He's held the position the position since 2005.

During his tenure he raised more than 180 million for the school and saw construction of a new science center, new residence facilities and renovations to the athletic complex. The university has consistently been recognized as one of the best colleges in the region by U.S. News and World Report.

Habecker was also led Huntington University from 1979 to 1991. Officials say the process of finding the next president will begin in a few weeks.
