Man charged with stealing from Fort Wayne Police cars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 19-year-old Fort Wayne man is accused of a rash of thefts from police cars earlier this month.

The Journal Gazette reports that court documents show Noah Cornewall is charged with two felony counts of theft. Prosecutors say he broke into parked squad cars and took a variety of items, including a handgun, a rifle, ammunition, a flashlight and some bulletproof vests.

The thefts happened between May 31st and June 6th. On one occasion he allegedly made off with a key that unlocked squad car doors.

Police found the stolen items at Cornewall’s home, and say he admitted to the thefts, saying he tried to sell what he stole to his drug dealer.
