Tippecanoe’s Nimmer Named Teacher of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A Tippecanoe School Corp. English teacher has been named Indiana's 2015 Teacher of the Year.

Schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz announced Tuesday that Kathy Nimmer is the state's top teacher. Ritz called Nimmer an “inspiration'' for students and educators through her own examples.

Nimmer, who is blind, has taught English at William Henry Harrison High School for the past 22 years.

Nimmer was selected as the Tippecanoe schools' teacher of the year last year and has been given numerous other awards. In 1996, she helped carry the Olympic torch before the Summer Games in Atlanta
