Toll Road Operator May Go Bankrupt

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WOWO): The company that owns the rights to the Indiana Toll Road might file for bankruptcy and sell the operation of the highway to another buyer.

The company, which is controlled by parts of a Spanish infrastructure company as well as an Australian investment bank, reached an agreement with most of its creditors which would set the groundwork for the sale of the road.

The South Bend Tribune reports these secured creditors would receive most of the proceeds from the sale.

The bankruptcy is not expected to affect the toll road, which has struggled for years with heavy debt and lower-than-expected traffic.
