INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Donald Trump has asked a long-time Republican leader in the state to chair his Indiana campaign.

Rex Early, a former Indiana GOP Party Chairman and a traditional delegate to the Republican National Convention, was asked to take the reigns for Trump’s effort in the Hoosier State. Early told the Indianapolis Star that he expects Trump, who remains the Republican front runner despite recent losses to Ted Cruz, to have a strong showing in Indiana’s primary on May 3rd.

Early says the campaign will open offices in the state soon and expects his candidate to carry Indiana, which has 57 Republican delegates. Early ran unsuccessfully for Governor in 1996.

Ohio Governor John Kasich has hired a consulting firm to run his Indiana campaign, and Senator Ted Cruz is expected to announce his Indiana team soon.
