Turnout strong for first “Open Streets” event

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): If the crowd response is anything to go by, the first ever Open Streets Fort Wayne was a success.

A portion of several downtown streets were closed to traffic so Fort Wayne could hold what amounted to be a massive block party Sunday, encouraging kids and adults alike to “play in the street” with art and music showcases and plenty of free games and activities.

The Journal Gazette says there was strong turnout throughout.

The event, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, featured about 100 attractions throughout downtown, and also helped funnel people toward the Three Rivers Festival and Sunday afternoon’s Fort Wayne TinCaps game.
