Two Arrested After Weekend OVI Checkpoint in Lima

LIMA, Ohio (WOWO): On Saturday night, Lima Police conducted an OVI Checkpoint on SR 309 near Cole Street.

Over the course of the checkpoint, held from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., 508 vehicles passed through the area with four of the vehicles being diverted to a secondary station. Of those vehicles being diverted, two drivers were arrested for OVI, and one was issued a summons to court for possession of marijuana. Two impaired drivers were also arrested by police working nearby the checkpoint.

Police say the goal of the checkpoint was to make drivers more aware of the impaired driver problem in Ohio, and help bring a reduction in the number of alcohol and drug related crashes.
