UPDATE: Funeral Services Held for Indiana Firefighter

NEW CARLISLE, Ind. (AP) _ Hundreds of mourners have gathered in northern Indiana to pay their final respects to a firefighter who died last week when a roof collapsed on him as he was fighting a fire.

WSBT-TV and WNDU-TV report that dozens of firefighters joined friends and relatives of 41-year-old Jamie Middlebrook at Monday morning's funeral services at Bethel College in Mishawaka.

Middlebrook was the city of New Carlisle's assistant fire chief. He died last Tuesday when a roof collapsed on him as he was helping set up a hose inside K-Fex Excavating and Trucking outside New Carlisle, about 15 miles west of South Bend.

Following Monday's funeral service, there will be a funeral procession to the New Carlisle Cemetery.

State and federal investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
