Hundreds of Thousands of Indiana Voter Records are Inaccurate

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): More than 700 thousand addresses documented by Indiana's voter registration centers are inaccurate.

That's according to Secretary of State Connie Lawson. More than 5 million post cards were sent to Indiana residents asking them to update their information.

Lawson says her office has pinpointed more than 731,000 … that either needed updating or were no longer valid.

Officials say if the inactive records were removed from recent elections, the actual turn out from the May primary election at 17 percent, up from the 13 percent recorded.

In the 2012 November general election, that number would jump from 58 to 71 percent.
