UPDATE: Shootings in Hartford City Leave Man and Daughter Dead

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (AP) – Authorities in the eastern Indiana community of Hartford City say they have no one in custody in the shooting death of a man and his teenage daughter.

Authorities haven't released the names of the victims, pending completion of autopsies Friday morning at the Northeast Indiana Forensics Center in Fort Wayne.

Despite saying no one was in custody Thursday, Police Chief Scott Mealy said they were talking to “persons of interest.''

Authorities said they found the man dead of an apparent gunshot wound in the head in an apartment building's parking lot. The girl, also shot in the head, was found later in their apartment.

Mealy said the shootings were not random acts of violence.

The police chief said he believed the homicides were Hartford City's first since 2001.
