UPDATE: Anthem Customers Encouraged to Sign-Up for Credit Freeze

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Anthem customers' information may have been exposed to hackers.

The nation's second-largest health insurer says hackers got into its computer network and were able to gain access to personal information for tens of millions of customers and employees.

Anthem will be individually notifying current and former members whose information has been accessed, and provide credit monitoring and identity protection services free of charge.

According to our Partners in News at 21Alive, the Indiana Attorney General is urging Anthem customers and employees to freeze their credit, even though Anthem says credit card information was not compromised in the breach.

Anyone who believes they have been affected is encouraged to visit the AG’s Office’s web site, www.IndianaConsumer.com and scroll down to “Identity Theft and Security Breaches” in order to sign up for a free credit freeze.

The sign-up page is also accessible at http://www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/2891.htm.
