Warsaw Man Behind Bars, Facing Felony Theft Charges

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A Warsaw man is behind bars after offering to fix a woman's car, but instead making repairs with some duct tape and a soup can.

31-year-old David Roper is facing charges of felony theft for allegedly returning new auto parts and pocketing the money.

It was early October when April McCool called 9-1-1 when she found her 3-year-old child unresponsive and her 8-year-old unable to walk because of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Roper had told McCool he would fix her broken catalytic converter if she purchased the parts. However, under the car, police discovered, the old converter spray painted to look new and other repairs made with some duct tape and a soup can.

StaceyPageOnline reports Roper admitted to the crime, he's also charged with criminal recklessness.
