Woman admits to part in prostitution scam

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman has pled guilty to participating in a series of robberies targeting men who fell for online prostitution ads.

21-year-old Shanika Clay made a plea deal that gives her a total of three years probation and three years in prison for robbery and corrupt business influence, according to the Journal Gazette. Her sentence was actually for nine years per robbery charge, but most of that time was suspended.

Between last June and August, Clay and several others would set up online prostitution ads, then when someone showed up to answer the ads, her group would ambush and rob them.

Another defendant in the case, 20-year-old Enocsha Boyd, is already serving six years in prison. Three men are also charged and awaiting trial.
