Woman and Young Girl Die in Indianapolis Fire

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Indianapolis Fire Department reports a woman and a young girl have died after being pulled from a house fire on the city's east side.

Firefighters were called to the scene about 10:30 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor called 911 saying he saw smoke coming from the house. Neighbors told firefighters that three children lived in the house, but two of them should have been at school.

Firefighters say they found the woman quickly during a search of the home and the child moments later. Fire department officials say the woman died at Eskenazi Hospital, while the girl died at Riley Hospital. The names of the victims' weren't released.
