SPENCER CO., Ind. (WOWO) — Paul O’Neil Gottman lost his Chrisney High School class ring while swimming at Lincoln State Park in 1961.

Sixty-four years later, with the lake drained for dam work, treasure hunter Brian Hanson discovered the ring about 18 inches deep, covered in sand.

A Facebook post quickly led to it being returned to Gottman, who says he plans to be buried wearing it.

Hanson called it a highlight of his metal detecting hobby, reuniting someone with a lost and cherished item.
