FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — The Allen County Public Library’s Rolland Center for Lincoln Research has unveiled a new exhibit offering a rare glimpse into the private life of President Abraham Lincoln and his family.

Titled “The Lincolns at Home,” the free exhibit is now open at the Main Library and will remain on display through the end of 2026. The original exhibition draws from the Lincoln family’s personal photo album, featuring more than 600 historic photographs preserved in the Rolland Center’s collection.

The exhibit highlights intimate moments from the lives of Abraham and Mary Lincoln and their children, tracing the family’s experiences from their early years in Springfield, Illinois, to their time in Washington, D.C., during the Civil War. Visitors can explore how family routines, relationships, and personal resilience shaped the Lincolns amid national turmoil.

“This exhibit brings forward a deeply human perspective of one of America’s most studied families,” said Jessie Cortesi, senior Lincoln librarian at the Rolland Center. “By showcasing personal photographs and lesser-known stories, we hope visitors gain a richer understanding of how the Lincolns supported one another in moments of joy, uncertainty, and profound national change.”
