Allen County Coroner Identifies 77-Year-Old Woman Killed In Yoder Shooting

YODER, Ind. (WOWO) — The Allen County Coroner has identified a woman who died following a shooting in Yoder as 77-year-old Sandra Sue Chelf.

According to a coroner’s office press release issued Wednesday, authorities were notified of the shooting on May 22 in the 100 block of Woodlake Run in Yoder, Indiana. Responders found Chelf unresponsive on the bedroom floor. Southwest Allen County EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.

An autopsy has been completed, and officials said Chelf died from multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators said the victim’s next of kin has been notified.

The case remains under investigation by the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Officials said the death marks the 13th homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2026.
