LIMA, Ohio (WOWO): Several Northwest Ohio students have received scholarships from Lima Memorial Health System to support their pursuit of careers in the medical field.

According to Lima Memorial Health System, five students were selected from nearly 100 applicants through the hospital’s Auxiliary Scholarship Program and Nursing Alumnae Scholarship Program.

Hospital officials said the scholarships are intended to recognize students who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing careers in health care and helping others through medical service.

The awards provide financial assistance to students working toward degrees and professional training in a variety of health care disciplines.

Lima Memorial officials said the scholarship programs are designed to help address future workforce needs while encouraging the next generation of nurses, clinicians and other medical professionals.

Recipients were chosen based on their academic achievements, career goals and dedication to the health care field, according to the hospital.

Hospital leaders said they hope the scholarships will help students continue their education and eventually contribute to the health and well-being of communities across Northwest Ohio.
