Crash Sends Woman to the Hospital, Man to Jail

ELKHART, Ind. (WOWO): A two-vehicle crash Monday sent a woman to the hospital and a man to jail for drunk driving. It happened just before 4:00 P.M. when 30-year-old Ben Mireles, of South Bend, rear-ended Stephanie Johnson, of Elkhart on US 20 in Elkhart. An investigation revealed that Mireles had a suspended learner's permit and had been drinking prior to the crash. He was taken to the Elkhart County Jail and registered a blood alcohol content of .13%. Mireles was arrested for operating while intoxicated and driving while suspended. Johnson was taken to a local hospital for head pain.
