16-Year-Old Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A now 16-year-old who paralyzed another teen when he shot him in the back will serve 25 years in prison. Walik Whiteside met another teen in an alley on the city’s southeast side in October of last year to smoke marijuana. That’s when Whiteside pulled a gun on the other teen, demanding his money. When the victim tried to run, Whiteside shot him in the back, took his money, and ran. According to the Journal Gazette, court documents say the victim will likely be paralyzed below the waist for the rest of his life. Whiteside entered a plea agreement and was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison, with possible early release for good behavior or if he gets an education while serving time.
