Paulding County Police Investigate Accidental Shooting

PAULDING COUNTY, Ohio. (WOWO): Officers with the Paulding County Sheriff's Department are investigating what they believe to be an accidental shooting at an Oakwood home. Police say just after 8:00 p.m., Sunday night, a 15-year-old boy was holding a .22 caliber rifle when it fired and stuck his 13-year-old sister.

She was in another room of the house when a bullet hit her in the thigh. She was taken to the hospital, but no other details in regards to her condition have been released.

“We as parents can never stress enough the safety of handling firearms. This appears to be a very unfortunate situation,” said Paulding County Sheriff Landers.

The Oakwood home is owned by Scott and Sheryl Wagner.
