Residents Bring Up Issue With I&M

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne homeowners are not happy with I&M's plan to install new power poles.

A certified letter form Indiana-Michigan Power attorneys informed residents along a Spy Run Hill neighborhood of their plans to install poles to connect two substations with higher voltage. Spy Run hill Association Vice President Mark Rosemond told 21Alive, “We had a realtor say it would devalue the homes from $10 to $20,000 just for one unit. And we were egregiously insulted by I&M, with an $8,000 compensation for all six units total.”

Tracy Warner with I&M said they haven't determined which easements will be used for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year.

Both sides want to sit down so they can express their concerns and objections.
