Indiana Braces for Rainfall from Tropical Storm’s Remnants

GENEVA, Ind. (AP) _ Northern Indiana officials who've already evacuated hundreds of people from their homes because of flooding are bracing for more rainfall as Tropical Storm Bill's remnants near the state.</p>

Flooding along the Iroquois River forced hundreds of residents in the northwestern Indiana city of Rennselaer from their homes Wednesday. Local officials fear that up to 1,000 homes near the region's Kankakee River could be affected if heavy rains forecast for Thursday fall as predicted.

An eastern man was rescued from the top of his van late Wednesday night after it became trapped by floodwaters near the town of Geneva, about 30 miles south of Fort Wayne.

Officials said the man was on his way to pick up his wife when he tried to drive through the flooded roadway.
